Lower Columbia College - BTEC 131 Intro to Spreadsheets

The Use of Spreadsheets

    Learning with Lower Columbia College

In order to earn an AAS in Accounting at Lower Columbia, you are required to take many business technologies (BTEC) classes including the practical use of spreadsheets within a business.  As a high school student, I am working on achieving credits that I can then transfer to another college to get my AAS in Accounting. One of the courses that I have been looking into is called BTEC 131 Introduction to Spreadsheets.

This class specifically piques my interest because there are so many different and useful ways to use spreadsheets! I love working with numbers and sorting information. In order to take this class, however, I have to take and pass BTEC 104 and BUS 104 with a C or higher in order to qualify for the Intro to Spreadsheets. I have not been able to take this class however, I am working on passing the prerequisite classes in order to learn even more about spreadsheets!

According to the details of this course listed in my course search, this class is intended to introduce the use of practical spreadsheet programs in business situations and applications. To search for courses I followed this link: Class Schedule (lowercolumbia.edu). And then found my desired quarter and searched for business technology courses: Class Search (ctclink.us).

    Other Ways to Use Spreadsheets

There are so many ways to use spreadsheets other than using them for business purposes! I use them to make team rosters for my Volleyball teams as well as a printable sheet to track volleyball stats on.

I have also found spreadsheets that were made as templates by Google that help track your spending and finances. It has come in very handy for me so I can see all my spending categorized in one space!
